Florence C. Droessler, 90, of Stonehill Care Center, died at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at the care center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, with the Rev. Wayne Droessler and the Rev. Lyle Wilgenbusch officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Garden Mausoleum at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Droessler worked at the Battery Factory on Dubuque's north end, Roshek's Department Store, Bly's Lumber Co. and the University of Dubuque.

She was born on Aug. 4, 1913, in Sinsinawa, Wis., daughter of Herman and Catherine (Berning) Placke. She married George Droessler on Sept. 16, 1940, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Sinsinawa; he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1979.

She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Power of Prayer Chapel of Adoration and the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Joseph the Worker.

Surviving are three sons, the Rev. Wayne Droessler, of Central City, Iowa, Glenn H. (Jean) Droessler, of Dubuque, and Justin G. (Teresa) Droessler, of New Brighton, Minn.; two grandchildren, Mark and Benedict Droessler; a step-granddaughter, Amy Fritz; and three sisters, Rose Pastoret, Marion Placke and Lucina Stangl.

She also was preceded in death by five brothers, Henry, Benedict, Francis, Leo and William; and three sisters, Sister Georgiana, OP, Clara Budden and a sister in infancy.

Memorials may be given to St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and Stonehill Care Center.

The family wishes to extend a thank-you to the doctors and nurses who cared for Florence and the staff at Stonehill for the care and kindness they gave to her during these last years.
