Jeannette M. Murphy, 84, of 720 Alpine St., died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial of the cremated remains will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

She was born on March 8, 1919, in Dubuque, daughter of Charles and Grace (Kissell) Murphy.

She graduated from the former St. Joseph Academy for Girls and attended the former Bayless Business College.

She worked at the Savanna (Ill.) Ordnance Department during World War II. She then worked as a bookkeeper at the Dubuque Lumber and Coal Co., which was later named Tully's, retiring in 1987.

She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church, Wa-Tan-Ye Club, Lacoma Golf Club, The Dubuque Bowling Association and Hall of Fame and was a lifetime member of the 600 Club.

Surviving are a sister, Norma Glynn, of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, LaVern (Veronica) Pfiffner, of Dubuque; seven nieces and nephews, Bob (Ann) Pfiffner, of Long Grove, Iowa, Jim (Michelle) Pfiffner, of Davenport, Iowa, Linda (Jack Bennett) Krabacher, of East Dubuque, Ill., and Pat Glynn, Susan Erickson, Kathy (Alan) Ernzen and Mike (Laurie) Glynn, all of Dubuque; six great-nephews; seven great-nieces; and two great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Murphy; a sister, Kathleen Pfiffner; and a brother-in-law, George Glynn.
