Sister Mary Bernard Lammers, OSF, 83, of the Holy Family Hall at Mount St. Francis, died at 3:15 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, at the Holy Family Infirmary.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mount St. Francis Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at the chapel, where there will be a wake service at 7:30 p.m. The Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Mary ministered as a homemaker in the Iowa cities of Dubuque (Holy Ghost, St. Francis Home and Immaculate Conception), Worthington, Remsen, Granville, Pocahontas, La Motte and Waterloo (St. Mary); and Melrose Park, Ill.

She was born on March 19, 1920, in Petersburg, Iowa, daughter of Ben and Frances (Bockenstedt) Lammers.

She entered the Sisters of St. Francis on Aug. 25, 1938, and made her final profession of religious vows on Aug. 12, 1944.

Surviving are sisters, Sister Lucille Lammers, OSF, Olga (Ervin) Willenbring and Eloys Diesburg; a brother, Ben (Inez) Lammers; and the Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared 63 years of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James; a sister, Sedella (Joe) Deutmeyer; and a brother-in-law, Gerald Diesburg.

Memorials may be given to the Mount St. Francis Sisters.
