Howard W. Rupp, 82, of ManorCare Health Services, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Siegert-Didesch Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today. Private burial will be at a later date.

He was born on Oct. 23, 1920, in Epworth, Iowa, son of Frank and Leona (Cottingham) Rupp.

He married Cecilia Backes on June 3, 1941, in Dubuque. They moved to California where he worked at the Kaiser shipyards from 1942 until moving back to Dubuque in 1945. He then went to work for Farley & Loetscher Mfg., Higley-Meyer Electric and McGovern Hardware.

He was a member of the Dubuque Men's Association and the United Commercial Travelers.

Howard enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing.

Surviving are his wife, Cecilia, of Dubuque; a daughter, Susan Robinson, of Dubuque; two grandchildren, Michelle and Wesley Robinson; two brothers, Merlin (Vivian) Rupp, of Monticello, Iowa, and Dale (Mary) Rupp, of Platteville, Wis.; and three sisters, Dorothy (Delmont) Coates, of Key West, Iowa, Elaine (Richard) Hueneke, of St. Donatus, Iowa, and Donna (Ron) Otis, of Buena Park, Calif.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn White.

A Howard W. Rupp Memorial Fund has been established.
