Genevieve L. "Whitey" Thill, 88, of Heritage Manor, formerly of 1040 Mount Loretta St., died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, at Heritage Manor.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Columbkille's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Siegert-Casper Colonial Funeral Home, 390 N. Grandview Ave., where there will be a wake service at 3:30 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 13, 1917, in St. Catherine, Iowa, daughter of Frederick and Catherine (Nauman) Tigges.

She married Armin "Butch" Herbst in 1938 in St. Catherine. She and her first husband built and operated the Morocco Supper Club from 1958 until he passed away in 1966. She later married August F. "Bud" Thill in 1970 in Dubuque.

She was an active member of St. Columbkille's Catholic Church since 1953.

She loved her home, family and friends.

Surviving are her loving husband of 34 years, August "Bud" Thill, of Dubuque; four children, Donna Mae Saunders and William F. (Kim) Thill Sr., both of Dubuque, Wayne A. (Alease) Thill, of Pittsburgh, and Richard F. (Ann) Thill, of Cedar Falls, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred A. (Mary) Tigges, of Asbury, Iowa.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Paul, Herman, Leo and Joseph Tigges; two sisters, Marie Rubel and Marcella Rubel; and a son-in-law, David Saunders.

A Whitey Thill Memorial Fund has been established.

The family would like to thank Rev. Phil Kruse and Sr. Carol Hemesath for their wonderful support, and the nurses and staff at Hospice of Dubuque and Heritage Manor for their loving care.
