Death Claims Mrs. Voltz, 82
Known to Many Dubuquers as 'Grandma' Voltz

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning for Mrs. Catherine Voltz, 82, a lifelong resident of Dubuque who was known to many Dubuquers as "Grandma" Voltz.

Mrs. Voltz died Sunday morning at 12:55 o'clock following an illness of several months at her home, 2204 Rhomberg Avenue.

The body was transferred from the Didesch Funeral Home to her residence from where the funeral will be held to the Holy Trinity Church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Mrs. Voltz was born in Dubuque Oct. 25, 1856, daughter of the late Michael and Helen Primiassing Oswald, and was married in 1877 to Charles Voltz in the old St. Mary's Church, which was then located on Eighth Avenue.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church, the Third Order of St. Francis, and the Rosary Society of the Holy Trinity Parish, and was also affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Gold Star Mothers.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George H. (Sybilla) Schilling, Dubuque, and Mrs. William (Hild) Brown, elwein; two sons, Carl and George Voltz, both of Dubuque; one brother, Englebert Oswald, Chicago; and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death wither her husband were eight children including her son, Clarence Voltz who was killed in action in the World War.
