While flying a kite near the Nineteenth street crossing of the Chicago Great Western about 7:30 o'clock yesterday evening, Clarence Charles, the 8-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hos, 502 Rhomberg avenue, was struck by a passing freight train, sustaining injuries from which he died within fifteen minutes after his arrival at Mercy hospital.
Several playmates of the boy were with him and witnessed the accident. The lad had hold of the kite string when struck.
Coroner Sydney Haudenshield took charge of the case and will conduct an investigation.
Clarence was a pupil of St. Mary's school.
His little sister had just returned home from the hospital, having recovered from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Rhomberg avenue a short time ago. The father of the child is the proprietor of a pool hall on Rhomberg avenue.
Little Clarence was born in Dubuque May 8, eight years ago. Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hos, he leaves to mourn his loss the following little brothers and sisters: Donald, Eileen, Leland, Paul, Aurelia, Lucille and Loraine.
The funeral will be held Friday morning from the home, 502 Rhomberg avenue, to St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be made in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
