Services for Mrs. Elizabeth M. Cushing, 84, of St. Francis Home, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Strueber Funeral Home, where the Scripture Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Mrs. Cushing, formerly of 2300 Queen St., died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Xavier Hospital. She was born in Dubuque and was a member of Sacred Heart Rosary Society, and a charter member of the Xavier Hospital Guild, and the Grey Ladies. Her first husband, Jacob Theobald, died May 30, 1924, and her second husband, Charles L. Cushing, died Jan. 17, 1967.
Surviving are three sons, Joseph Theobald of McKay, Idaho, John Theobald and Charles R. Cushing, both of Dubuque; three daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Charlyn) Martelle of Kenosha, Wis., Mrs. John F. (Ivy "Pat") Jordan of Sorrenton, Fla., and Mrs. R. Jack (Dorothy) Welu of Dubuque; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. J.P. (Ann) Sutton of Chicago, Mrs. George (Sue Meyers of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. Margaret Temple of Chicago, and two brothers, Albert and Bernard Spautz, both of Dubuque.
