Vickie L. Cornelius (1961-2020)

Vickie L. (Brandenburg) Cornelius, age 59, of Dubuque, passed peacefully at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Luther Manor, surrounded by her loving family. To celebrate Vickie’s life, private family services were held. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street, is in charge of arrangements.

Vickie was born on March 23, 1961, in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Harold and Patricia (Culbertson) Brandenburg.

Vickie attended school in Tucson, Arizona, before having her son, Paul, in 1979, and returning to Dubuque in 1985. She was united in marriage to Scott Cornelius in 1989, they were together for 20 years before he sadly passed away in 2009. She enjoyed working and was employed with the Dubuque Leader from 2008, until she was forced to retire due to health issues. Vickie was a very social person who loved spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid football fan with the Green Bay Packers being her favorite team. In her free time Vickie also enjoyed camping, listening to music and caring for her cats.

Those left to cherish Vickie’s memory include

her siblings,
Roger (Sue Bodish) Brandenburg
and Jerry (Billie Heiderscheit) Brandenburg;

and several nieces and nephews.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Paul Brandenburg; a brother, Harold Jr. in infancy; and a sister, Rhonda Tafolla.
