Death of Mrs. Katherine Seery

Once more in his flight across the land the angel of death lowered in his dread course and brought sorrow and tears into the home circle of another Cascade family, and removed the dea form of a devoted wife and loving mother. This recent occasion of bereavement was the death of Mrs. Katherine Seery, wife of the esteemed citizen John Seery, which event occurred at the family residence Tuesday evening about 6 o’clock. She had been an invalid for number of years and all efforts to stay the encroachment of disease proved futile.

Mrs. Seery was a daughter of the late Patrick Skahill, of Washington Township, and a sister of the late John P. Skahill of Cascade. Her brother James B. Skahill, of the above township, is the only surviving member of her father’s family. She was born in Washington Township, Jones County, in December, 1854, and was married to John Seery February 19, 1879, and with her husband resided on his farm near Sand Springs until the spring of 1894, when they removed to this city. Her husband and four children, Henry F., Ida May, Katie and Jane Frances, survive her, and have the sincere sympathy of the community of their irreparable loss. In Cscade and whenever she was known Mrs. Seery was a popular woman, amiable in disposition, beautiful in character, and the highest type of a Christian mother.

The funeral was held from St. Mary’s Church yesterday morning at 10 o’clock, and the remains were consigned to their last resting place in the Catholic Cemetery, following a large concourse of sorrowing friends. The obsequies were conducted by the Rev. L. Roche, pastor, who preached an eloquent and touching sermon.
