Miss Effie Simpson, daughter of Nathan F. Simpson, of Epworth, died Sunday of consumption. One year ago she passed through a siege of the grip from this she never recovered and the symptoms of her last illness soon began to make rapid inroads upon her constitution. Miss Effie was born upon her father’s farm, three miles southwest of Epworth, in the year 1866, and was at her death just 29 year old. Of Miss Effie it can be said she was a loving and dutiful daughter, and possessed many noble traits of character. After completing her course of study in her home school she attended Epworth Seminary for three years and graduated from the musical course some six years ago. Soon after her graduation she entered the ranks of Dubuque County school teachers and taught for five years until she was obliged to leave the profession when her health failed. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Epworth Monday.
