He was born in Cork County, Ireland, about sixty-five years ago, and came to this country when he was a small boy. He followed his trade that of a carpenter and contractor, in this city during his entire residence here, and about ten years ago went to Butte, where he has since resided. His family left here few years ago and joined him. Deceased was widely known in this city and erected many of the larger buildings here. His first wife, whose maiden name was Redfearn/Redfern, died many years ago, and he was afterwards united in marriage to Mrs. Backet of this city. Two children, Mrs. W. A. Sanderson and Mrs. Ed Hughes, of this city, are the surviving children from his first wife, and John Wallace, Frank and Gertie are the survivors from his last wife, all of whom live in Butte.

The remains will be shipped here for interment and will probably arrive tomorrow. Deceased was sick but a few days, his illness being pneumonia. He was well killed and had many warm friends in Dubuque, who will regret to hear of his death.
