Andrew Peterson was born in Sweden on July 28, 1864. He immigrated to America in 1889. On March 24, 1894 he married Miss Gerda Marie Tapper in Chicago. They came to Farley immediately after their marriage. They had one son Emeric, who died in France during g WWI. Farley American Legion Post 656 was named for Sherman & Peterson, the two soldiers who lost their lives during WWI.

Peterson was in the concrete business in Farley for many years. His name can still be seen stamped into many Farley sidewalks. He was ill for several years and died in October of 1932. Theses sidewalks are built following his arrival here in 1894, and some of them could be over 100 years old. The Peterson home was at 208 3rd St. SW and is now occupied by Andy and Jane Hollenback.
