James & Mary (Black) McGuigan

James and Mary (Black) McGuigan farmed in the south half of Section 8 in Taylor Township. Mary was born in Co. Antrim, Ireland. She came to Dubuque Co. at the age of 18. Mary died in March 1906 at the age of 70 years.

Mr. and Mrs. James McGuigan had five sons and two daughters. All of these children and James preceded Mary to the grave. In the latter years of her life she was blind. Mary died from foo poisoning after consuming some canned tomatoes.
