Joseph C. & Emma (Segbers) Luensmann

Joseph C. Luensmann (1892-1971) was born in New Vienna. His parents had emigrated from Germany and Joe was the first of the children born in the United States. On Nov. 23, 1915 he married Emma Segbers (1896-1990), the daughter of William and Anna (Roling) Segbers of New Vienna. After their marriage the Luensmann’s purchased the Gibb’s Bakery in Farley. They ran the boarding house and café for thirty years, then later Luensmann’s Tap. Upon their retirement in 1952, the business was sold to Elmer and Mary Ann Luensmann. Joseph and Emma had three children: Ethel (Mrs. Cyril Hess); Earl and Jim.
