Patrick (1823-1901) and Ellen Kehoe (1825-1903) immigrated to this county from Ireland in the early 1850’s first settling in Brooklyn, New York where they married. In 1853, they came west to Dubuque County where Patrick worked in a saw mill for two years. He then began farming and raising dairy stock on 80 acres in Dodge Township where they lived for 45 years. His property holding were later increased to 300 acres in this county and 320 acres in Floyd County. Patrick served as Justice of the Peace; assessor; trustee and a member of the school board. Patrick and Ellen and ten children.
