Joseph (Arcouet) Arquitt came from Canada to the United States when he was about 30 years old, or about 1828. He was born bout 1798 and died on Feb. 13, 1888 at Farley, Iowa at age 90. It is belied he is the son of Cassimer Arcouet. He married Mary Dinny, in Cornwall, New York. Children born to this union according to his will were Moses, a stonecutter; Adolphus, a clerk; Capt. Benjamin; Mary; and Joseph, all born in New York. Philomena was the only one born in Iowa.

It is believed that Louis Napoleon and John Arcouet were the sons of Joseph by his first marriage.
