Death of Mrs. Julia Connell
Mrs. Julia Connell, wife of the late Bernard Connell, died at the family residence in West Cascade, on Sunday afternoon, April 1st, at 1 o’clock, of paralysis, after a lingering illness. She was an invalid for over two years and during the past fifteen months was unable to leave her room. She was a patient sufferer during her long confinement and never was heard to utter a word of complaint. Mrs. Connell will be remembered by a large circle of friends as a kindhearted woman ever willing to lend a helping hand to those who were in need, all of whom sincerely regret to hear of her death.
Mrs. Connell was born in the County of Meath, Ireland, in the year 1811, therefore was 83 years old at the time of her death, at the age of 22 years she was married to Bernard Connell, and a few years later with her husband emigrated to the United States. In 1857 they moved to Iowa and located in Cascade, where she has resided ever since. Her husband died November 11th, 1869. She was the mother of eight children, all of whom have died except Daniel and Miss Anna, who reside at the old homestead in this city.
