The wife of Mr. John Green, the colored whitewasher, expired suddenly at a few minutes past midnight yesterday morning. For about two years past she complained of pains in the region of the heart. Thursday night she retired about 9 o'clock. At midnight her loud breathing awakened her husband. She died a few minutes later, having been unable to speak to her husband.

The event is a severe shock to her family and friends. She was aged 51 years and 11 months. She leaves three sons and two daughters by her first husband, Mr. Smith, and two sons by Mr. Green.

She was a good woman and an ardent member of the A.M.E. church. The funeral will occur Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the residence No. 612 Seminary street.
