Mr. Patrick McQuillan, one of the oldest and best-known residents of Concord township, died at his residence yesterday morning. He had been ill for several months, and his death was expected for some time past.

Mr. McQuillan was a man of sterling character. He leaves a large family. The wife of Mr. P.J. Quigley, of the Telegraph, is a daughter of Mr. McQuillan.

~Dubuque Daily Herald, January 19, 1886

Note: On the Dubuque co. IAGenWeb site is a listing of burials in Holy Cross Catholic cemetery, Concord twp. In Sec. A Row 12 Plot 2 is Thomas McQuillen, 1836-1/18/1886. He also has a gravestone in that cemetery. Due to the date of death, Thomas & Patrick are very likely to be the same person. Unknown by the submitter if one of the names was a middle name or if Patrick is a newspaper error.
