Dorothy A. Clemens, 92, of Ennoble Manor Care Center, formerly of 1695 Mount Pleasant St., died at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at the care center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Nativity Catholic Church. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Sherrill, Iowa. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 6:30 p.m.
She was born on Dec. 17, 1911, in Sherrill, daughter of George and Mae (Stecklein) Tigges. She married Peter J. Clemens on June 27, 1936, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill; he preceded her in death on May 4, 1969.
She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, the Nativity Guild and the Senior Citizens.
Dorothy loved to play cards, especially poker with her brothers. She also was an avid Cubs fan.
Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Surviving are a son, Thomas J. (Jayne) Clemens, of Peosta, Iowa; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth "Tony" (Heidi) Tigges and Eugene "Doc" (Katie) Tigges, both of Dubuque; a sister-in-law, Doris Tigges, of Dubuque; a brother-in-law, George Petersen, of Mount Prospect, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Ann Hollenbach; a son, David Lee Clemens; a sister, Mary Jane Petersen; and six brothers, Richard, who died as a child, Clarence "Chick," Cyril "Boots," Frank "Feb," Norbert "Jake" and George "Ches" Tigges.
In lieu of flowers, a Dorothy A. Clemens Memorial Fund has been established.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Ennoble Manor Care Center for their loving care and concern for Dorothy.
