BOY DROWNED-We are called upon to record another death by drowning this morning, which occurred at the foot of Seventh Street yesterday afternoon, the victim being Frederick Schreiner, son of
Mr. Schreiner who owns Eagle Point Ferry, and aged 15 years and 5 months.

Frederick had been left in charge by his father of the boat, and while thus engaged a boy who was paddling about in the water with a piece of plank nearby, upset and commenced to drown, being unable to swim. Without a moment’s hesitation Frederick sprang with all his clothing on to the rescue, and both boys were floundering in the water. At this junction a man arrived with a skiff who succeeded in saving the boy who fell in first, but Frederick, impeded by his heavy clothing sank to rise no more alive. His body was recovered in about 20 minutes after but all attempts to restore animation were unavailing- the vital spark had flown.

Frederick was the oldest of a family of seven children, and was much respected for his manly, faithful conduct. The natural goodness of his heart is sufficiently attested in the fact that he voluntarily gave up his own life to save another. Due notice of the funeral is given in another column.
