DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Louis B. Kramer, 99, of Dyersville, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Douglas Loeke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 5 p.m. and the Farley American Legion will gather at 7 p.m.

He was born on July 24, 1907, son of Clem and Catherine (Klostermann) Kramer. He married Coletta V. Evers on Jan. 26, 1932, in Dyersville; she preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 1999.

Louis and Coletta farmed in the Dubuque and Delaware counties until their retirement in 1974. After retiring Louis worked for Greiner's Hardware Store in Worthington and Links Golf Course in Dyersville and then did odd jobs until age 88.

He loved to make people laugh, to talk about the olden days and to sing.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and he loved it when his grandchildren and great-grandchildren came to visit him.

Surviving are six sons, Marvin (Jean) Kramer, of Farley, Vernon (Beulah) Kramer, of Naples, Fla., Bernard (Mary) Kramer, of Mesa, Ariz., Ronald (Joan) Kramer, of Epworth, and Daniel Kramer, David (Lisa) Kramer, both of Dyersville; a daughter, Margery (Jim) Grawe, of Marion; a son-in-law, Daniel (Mary Ann) Otting, of Waukon; 43 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by his daughter, Helen Otting; twin great-grandsons Alex and Andrew Krapfl; and three brothers and five sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque.

The Kramer families want to express their sincere thanks to Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville for their exemplary care for our father and generosity and kindness to our families. Heritage Manor, Dubuque and the Ellen Kennedy Center in Dyersville. Also a heartfelt thanks to Cookie Scherrman of Dyersville and Hospice of Dubuque, Louie's Hospice Nurses, Dorothy and Kevin; they were truly angels of mercy. The Kramer families would also like to acknowledge the American Legion in Farley and the VFW of New Vienna for their support.
