DUBUQUE PIONEER RESIDENT DEAD
JOSEPH HUBER, AGED 82 YEARS, PASSES AWAY AT FAMILY RESIDENCE.
IN DUBUQUE 63 YEARS
Funeral Will Be Held From Family Residence Thursday Afternoon at 2 O'Clock.
Joseph Huber, aged 82 years, a pioneer settler of Dubuque county, passed away at the family residence, 910 White street, Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock, following an illness of short duration.
The deceased was born in Cincinati, O., March 22, 1832. In 1851 he came to Dubuque county, locating in Dubuque, where he resided until his death. Mr. Huber was a furniture manufacturer under the name of Weisbeck & Huber up until the Civil war. After the war Mr. Huber was connected with the Dubuque Cabinet Makers' furniture factory up to 1894. In 1894 Mr. Huber retired.
The deceased was a member of Harmony lodge No. 2, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, for over forty years and also a member of the Metropolitan lodge of the Masons.
In the passing of Joseph Huber Dubuque losts[sic] a splendid citizen. He was always progressive and did much in the upbuilding of Dubuque.
Mr. Huber is survived by six sons, Thomas L. Huber, George Huber, Chicago; Albert J. Huber, Charles Huber, Frank Huber and Walter J. Huber, all of Dubuque.
The funeral will be held from the family residence Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be in charge of the Masonic order and Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
