William Ronald Pline
1951-2016
William Ronald Pline, 65 of Dubuque, Iowa passed away at 12:01 a.m. on December 26th, 2016 at home with his loving family and friends at his side.
He was born on October 11, 1951 in Dubuque, Iowa the son of Ronald and Gloria (Kennedy) Pline. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School and on October 14, 1972 he married Debra Larson and was by her side until her death in 1994. He then met Luanus Morrison, the woman he would spend the rest of his life with in 1997 and they married on July 24, 2013.
Bill started working with his father and grandfather, as a mechanic while he was in high school. He then became a partner and then the owner of Pline Battery Station. After his retirement he helped out his friend Aaron Fagan.
He was many things to many people. Bill enjoyed many years playing Santa Claus for families, friends and businesses. He donated his time as Santa for charities and charity events. He was involved in the Bass Club and other fishing organizations and met many lifelong friends there. He loved his motorcycles and even rebuilt a chopper in his dining room and decorated it with lights for Christmas. He was involved with Abate, giving motorcycle rides to children at Albrecht Acres with his best friends.
Bill survived by his wife, Luanus; daughters, Jennifer (Brian) Fondell, Brittany (Eric White) Gaylord, and Alexis (Jeff McKinlay) Morrison. His grandchildren, Spencer Kloser, Sativa White, Meadow White and Cecelia McKinlay. His mother Gloria Pline; sisters Kathleen Callaghan, Lorna Olson, Janice (Dave Bechen); brothers Kevin (Martha) Pline, Allan (Connie) Pline, Scott (Beth) Pline, Jim (Lori) Pline, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Ronald, his wife Debra, his son, Wade William in infancy, a brother Thomas, a nephew Reid and a brother-in-law Craig Olson.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Mark Moore for his years of excellent care. To his Cardiac team Dr. Johnson, Julie Ehlinger, Lacee, and Dr. Whalen for everything. A special thanks to the team at Hospice of Dubuque for their excellent and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
On January 7th, 2017 a Celebration of Life memorial service will be at Holiday Inn Five Flags in the Blue Moon Room from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. where everyone is welcome. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road is assisting the family.
