Sister Marie (Antoine) Bohr, OSF, of Clare House, Dubuque, Iowa, died on Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Clare House.
The Rite of Final Commendation was held at the Clare House Chapel, Mount St. Francis Center at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2019. A Memorial Mass will be held at Mount St. Francis Chapel at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2019. Natural burial was held at Sisters of St. Francis, 3390 Windsor Ave., (1928-2019)Dubuque, IA 52001.
She was born on August 4, 1928, in Ossian, Iowa, the daughter of Herman and Agnes (Hemesath) Bohr. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis August 25, 1950, and made final profession of vows August 10, 1956. Sister received her BA in education at Briar Cliff College, Sioux City, Iowa. She ministered as an educator in Iowa at Dubuque–St. Mary and Holy Trinity, Granville, New Vienna, and Earlville; in Illinois at Mater Christi, North Riverside and Corpus Christi, Chicago. She later ministered as an LPN in Kansas at St. Mary’s Hospital in Emporia and in Dubuque at Xavier Hospital and Stonehill Care Center.
Sister is survived by nieces and nephews, and her Franciscan sisters with whom she shared over 67 years of her life.
Sister was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Pauline (Herman) Holthaus, Hilda (Raymond) Holthaus, Agnes (Peter) Heying, Rita (Linus) Heying, Rose (Joe) Heying; her brothers: Rev. Richard Bohr, Clem (Mary) Bohr, infant Hugo Bohr, William (Hildegard) Bohr, Anton (Matilda) Bohr, John (Anna) Bohr, Rev. Jerome Bohr, and Hugo (Catherine) Bohr.
