George Hatch, an old resident of Dyersville, died at Manchester yesterday morning. He went to Dyersville from Dubuque in 1851. Burial will be at Dyersville.

Death of George Hatch.

George Hatch whose death occurred last Saturday, was born at Stone Allerton, Parish of Weare, Sommersetshire, England, August 21, 1824. When twenty-one years of age he came to this country, but soon thereafter returned to England, where he married and in 1849 with his wife, came to this country and settled in Dubuque county. In 1852 he, with his family, started overland for California. His wife and their only child died while on the journey and he returned to Iowa settling in Norfork township this county where he resided until his removal to this city in 1885. On April 6, 1854, he married Miss Mary Talbot who survives him. Seven children were born to them of whom only three are now living- Theodore residing at Dyersville, Mrs. Julia Williamson, of Milwaukee and Frederick a resident of Early, this state.

Mr. Hatch was a very intelligent and exemplary man and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.

The funeral services were held late Monday morning at the late residence of the deceased. Rev. H. W. Tuttle officiating, after which the remains were taken to Dyersville, accompanied by about forty of the members of the Masonic Lodge of this city, and were laid to rest in the cemetery there by his brethern of the Masonic order.

Manchester Herald: About two weeks ago, Mr. Geo. Hatch, fell while coming down the stairs leading from Bradley and Sherman's office and sustained injuries, which caused his death Saturday morning.

He was a respected citizen and always had a kind word for everyone. Mr. Hatch was born at Allerton, Somersetshire, England, in 1824, and soon after removed with his parents to America. He was married to Miss Mary Talbot in 1854 and three children have blessed their union. The remains were taken to Dyersville, his former home, on Monday, escorted by the Masonic lodge, of which order he was a member. He was 73 years of age.
