SINSINAWA, Wis. — Sister Jean Murray, OP, died at Sinsinawa Mound on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2019.

Her funeral Mass will be at the Motherhouse, 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20; a wake service will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19.

Sister Jean served as president of Rosary College (now Dominican University, Illinois) for 13 years (1981-1994). Earlier, she taught French at Edgewood High School, Madison, Wis., and St. Clara Academy-Sinsinawa, before earning a Ph.D. at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. She was professor of French at Rosary College (1961-1972, 1975-1981, 1995-2005); director of the Rosary-in-Fribourg program (1972-1975); and southeast provincial councilor (1976-1980).

Sister Jean was born in Broadview, Ill., May 30, 1927, to Meredith and Marie (Ryan) Murray.

She is survived by a niece, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters.
