Thomas H. Briggs, 79, of Epworth died at his home at 3:30 p.m. Friday, a few hours after he was stricken with a sudden illness.

The body is resting at the family home in Epworth and last rites will be held from there to the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Monday.

Burial will be in Highview cemetery, Epworth. The Haudenshield Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Briggs was born April 29, 1863 at Epworth and had lived there all his life. He had farmed until his retirement a few years ago.

Briggs was a member and trustee of the Epworth Methodist church and a member of the Berean class of the church. He was also superintendent of the Highview cemetery.

Surviving are his wife Mrs. Della Wilson Briggs; three sons, Harvey Briggs of Epworth, George Briggs of Ontario, California, and William I. Briggs of Hopkinton, Iowa; a sister, Mrs. Mary Hirons of Epworth, and three grandchildren.
