WILLIAM ROONEY DEAD

Well Known Citizen Died Last
Night at Mercy Hospital-Aged 89 Years

Mr. William Rooney, a well-known citizen of this city passed away at 6:30 at Mercy Hospital aged 89 years. Deceased was born in County Roscommon, Ireland and came to this country in 1840, locating at Newark, N. J. Seven years later he was united in marriage to Miss Mary King, coming west and settling in Dubuque. His wife passed away about two years ago. Deceased is survived by four children; Mrs. Sullivan of Texas, Thomas of LaCrosse, Wisc. and James and John of this city. Mr. Rooney was an honored member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The remains were taken to the residence, 602 Southern Avenue, from where the funeral will be held.
