Harriet Rose (Miner) Heller, 97, of Dubuque, IA passed away peacefully on November 15, 2018, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at First Congregational United Church of Christ (255 W. 10th St., Dubuque) with the Rev. Dr. Lillian Daniel officiating. Family and friends may visit after 10:00 a.m. at the church until time of service. Military honors by the Dubuque American Legion Post 6 will be accorded following the service in the church courtyard. Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory is entrusted with arrangements.
Harriet was born on May 23, 1921 in Dubuque, IA, the daughter of Harry and Alma (Friedlein) Miner. She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1939 and Bayless Business College in 1940. Harriet served with the U.S. Navy Waves, 1st Class Yeoman, WWII, stationed in Washington, D.C.
She married Ralph H. Heller on September 16, 1944 at the University of Dubuque Chapel.
Harriet was a member of Order of Eastern Star #125-Past Worthy Matron; Jeptha White Shrine-Past Worthy High Priestess; American Legion; Quilters; Bag Ladies; and Quilters Guild.
She was dedicated to early morning exercise/spin class, and also earned her private pilot license after WWII.
Harriet is survived by five daughters:
~Jaxine (David) Radloff and their children: Steve (Michelle) Radloff and their children Livia and Emelyn Radloff; Stephanie (Jim Sehloff) Engelhardt; Lindsay (Michael Evans) and their children Jorden Radloff and Madeline Evans.
~Janann (John) Sjobakken and their children: Scott (Annick) Sjobakken and their children Audrey and Elliott Sjobakken; Laura (Michael) Wilkins and their children Evan, Alexis and Aleah Wilkins.
~Toni (Nicholas) Frommelt and their children: Elizabeth (Joe) Homlar and their children Olivia, Marlo and Louise Homlar; Nicholas (Kate) Frommelt and their daughter Dorothy Frommelt; Charles (Thea) Frommelt, and their children Harrison and Elise Frommelt; Maria (Will) Brennan.
~Terry (David) Kopp and their children: Jodi (Jon) Doty and their children Mya and Olivia Doty; Natalie (Cory) Desrosiers and their son Dominick Desrosiers.
~Kay Heller.
~One sister: Betty Lou Emerson, one brother: Verner George (Jean) Miner, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Heller, on November 17, 1991.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Home Instead Senior Care of Dubuque, Hospice of Dubuque, Camp Courageous, and First Congregational United Church of Christ.
The family would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care, Dr. Hillard Salas, and Hospice of Dubuque for their wonderful, compassionate care.
