Young Mother is Called
(Dyersville Commercial)

The community was shocked to hear of the death of Mrs. Frank Obermann, which occurred at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, last Thursday, Sept. 15th. Everything was done to save her and prolong her life, but all to no avail, and she passed peacefully away at time stated above.

Deceased maiden name was Miss Catherine Wiemold, and she was born at New Vienna on December 27th, 1886, therefore being 36 years, eight months and 19 days old at the time of her demise. She received her education in St. Boniface schools of this place and grew to young womanhood. On April 21st, 1916, she was united in marriage to Mr. Frank Obermann in St. Boniface church at this place , Rev. Father Thole officiating, after which they went to housekeeping and have resided here continuously . Besides her grief stricken husband she is survived by an infant son, Harold Francis , her mother, Mrs. Frank Kramer of Farley, one sister, Mrs. Henry Oswald of Dubuque and four brothers, Frank Wiemold of Cherokee, Will, Joe, and Ray of Chicago.

The remains were taken here from Dubuque and brought to her home where the funeral took place Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock to St. Boniface Church, where requiem mass was read for the repose of her soul by Rev. Father Reinert after which interment took place in the cemetery nearby. The pallbearers were Mr. Frank Willenborg, John Mescher, Joe Schwers, John Loecke, Wm. Besler, and Joe Herbers.

The passing of this woman has occasioned great sorrow among her legion of friends, by whom she was held in high regard. She was a true Christian lady with noble traits of character, kindness and sincerity. Her home life was one of happiness and contentment, her pleasure being in the care of her household duties. When life’s happiness seemed complete, her days of life were cut short by the hand of death, leaving the grief stricken husband and motherless babe in deepest sorrow. She died as she lived, well prepared to meet her Maker. The funeral cortege was large contesting the high esteem in which the deceased was held. Those present from abroad were Messrs. and Mesdames Henry Oswald, Clem Wiemold, and Mr. Andrew Wiemold of Dubuque, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kramer of Farley, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Breen, Mr. and Mrs. George Goodale, Mrs. Joseph Kramer of Farley, Mr. and Mrs. George Jasper of Worthington, and Mr. and Mrs. Nic. Reicher and son George of Dyersville, Mrs. Henry Obermann and Mrs. Joe Obermann of Granville, Mrs. Anna Schermer, Mr. Frank Wiemold of Cherokee.
