OBITUARY

Died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. J. D. Sullivan of Prairie Creek Township at 1 o’clock, Wednesday morning, Feb. 24th, Mrs. Mary Kennedy, aged about 85 years.

Deceased was born in County Tipperary, Ireland in 1790, and emigrated to this country in 1836, locating at Wooster, Mass., where she remained until 1842, when she removed to Detroit, Mich. She resided there about five years, when she removed to Chicago. After a residence of about nine years in that city, she removed to this county, where she remained until her deceased.

Mrs. Kennedy leaves a large circle of friends to mourn her loss. Although her demise had been daily expected for some weeks, it fell with no less crushing weight upon the loved ones that were gathered around her bedside. She was almost idolized by her children and relatives, who have the heartfelt sympathy of the community in their affliction. She died as she lived, a firm believer in the Catholic faith, and was attended in her last moments by Rev. Father Bernard. She was a kind, affectionate mother, and her highest earthly aim was to advance the interests of her children.

The funeral will take place at Mr. Sullivan’s residence at 10 o’clock this morning. The remains will be interred at New Melleray.
