WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Mary F. Macdonald Boyle, 88, of Worthington, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007, at home, following a brief illness, in the presence of her children.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Doug-las Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a parish rosary recited at 4 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 5 p.m.

She was born on Feb. 27, 1918, in Worthington, daughter of Henry J. and Lena (Feltes) Soppe.

She graduated from St. Paul School, Worthington, and received her education as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital, Dubuque, graduating in 1939. She retired from Mercy Hospital, Dyersville, in 1978.

She married Joseph A. Macdonald on Sept. 16, 1940, in Dubuque, and resided in Freeport, Ill., until Joe's death in 1974. Subsequently, she returned to Worthington where she married Frank J. Boyle; he preceded her in death in 1987.

Surviving are her four sons, Michael (Rosario), of Rancho Cordova, Calif., John (Sarah), of Westchester, Ill., David (Karen), of St. Charles, Ill., and William (Marilyn), of Aurora, Colo.; two daughters, Mary Jo (Michael) Merriman, of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Patricia (Kenneth) Aurand, of Geneva, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Barbara (Jay) Mitchell, of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Gearhart, Alphonse, Ernest, Alfred and Clarence "Doc" Soppe; a sister, Gertrude Boyle; a grandson, Thomas Cullen Macdonald; and a stepdaughter, Mary M. "Fenner" Boyle.

Memorials are preferred and will be directed toward a hearing impaired wireless headset system for St. Paul Catholic Church and also may be given to the charity of your choice.
