DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Flavia M. Willenbring, 88, of Dyersville, died Wednesday Jan. 4, 2006, at home, following a brief illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a rosary by the Order of Martha's at 3 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

Mrs. Willenbring taught in rural schools in Delaware County. She also taught C.C.D. classes, assisted with handicapped children and did volunteer work at the Basilica.

She was born on July 6, 1917, in Dyersville, daughter of Alfred and Amelia (Becker) Kister. She married Emery C. Willenbring on May 3, 1941, in Dyersville. Together they farmed west of town for more than 50 years.

She attended rural schools and graduated from Xavier High School in June 1935, then took normal (teacher) training in Cedar Falls.

She was a member of the Order of Martha's and the Dyersville Historical Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Doris (Walter) Kramer, of Worthington, and Dina Schwendinger, of Dyersville; 4 grandchildren, Jason (Kristi) Kramer, Molly (Matt) Monahan, Amy Schwendinger, all of Dyersville, and Paula (Steve) Ervolino, of Dubuque; four great-grandchildren, Brianna and Alexis Kramer and Eric and Kylie Monahan, all of Dyersville; two step-great-grandchildren, Tanner and Natalie Ervolino; a sister, Wilma Nurre, of Dyersville; a brother-in-law, Albin Bries, of Ryan; and a sister-in-law, Leora Willenbring, of Dyersville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Emery, in 1997; a granddaughter, Shelly Kramer; a sister, Geralda Bries; brothers and sisters-in-law, Cleo Nurre, Lester Willenbring and Jeanette and Ambrose Weber.
