WORTHINGTON, Iowa - Mary Margaret "Margaret" White, 85, of Worthington, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at the Monticello (Iowa) Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, following a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Worthington, with the Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Kramer Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be an Altar and Rosary Society Rosary at 4 p.m., and a parish scripture service at 5 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 10, 1919, in Farley, daughter of George M. and Mary Elizabeth (Pins) Leibold.

She married Leon J. White on June 5, 1941, in Worthington. They farmed from 1941 until retirement in 1969, when they moved to town. Margaret also was a bartender at the Worthington Hall for many years.

She was a member of the Worthington Senior Citizens, where she formerly held the office of treasurer.

Margaret enjoyed playing cards and was a member of three different card groups. She also enjoyed being with her family and loved to work in the garden, bake and quilt. Her late husband, Leon, embroidered while Margaret made the quilts.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Patricia) White, of Hopkinton; seven grandchildren, Lynn (Gary) Kluesner and Paula White, both of Farley, Ken (Allison) White, of Lenexa, Kan., Kathy (Brian) Grete, of Cedar Falls, Lee White, of Winthrop, Rachel White, of Marshalltown, and Patrick White, of Hopkinton; six great-grandchildren, Sarah, Justin and Abby Kluesner, Elizabeth and Adam White and Andrew Grete; and three sisters, Marcella White, of Dyersville, Katie Harms, of Anamosa, and Veronica (John) Weber, of Delhi.

She also was preceded in death by two infant children, Dennis and Mary Elizabeth; and a brother, LaVerne Leibold.
