HOLY CROSS, Iowa - Rosella M. Gotto, 81, of Holy Cross, passed away Friday afternoon, March 14, 2003, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Zinkula officiating. Burial will in the Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Kramer Funeral Home, Holy Cross, where there will be a parish scripture service at 3 p.m., and the Holy Cross Altar & Rosary Society rosary and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas rosary at 5 p.m.

She was born on Aug. 8, 1921, in Farley, daughter of Chris and Mary (Schmitt) Hoefer. She married Cletus Gotto on May 25, 1949, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Farley.

She graduated from St. Joseph High School. Rosella loved gardening, baking and quilting.

She was a member of the Holy Cross Altar and Rosary Society and the Farley Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Surviving are her husband, Cletus, of Holy Cross; a son, James Gotto, of Holy Cross; three daughters, Elizabeth Gotto, of Holy Cross, Shirley (Tom) Simon, of Farley, and Linda (Martin) Bahl, of Asbury; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Matt, Mark and Joshua Simon and Katie, Julie, Sarah, Rebecca and Michael Bahl; a sister, Catherine (Clarence) Pins, of Farley; her mother-in-law, Catherine Gotto, of Guttenberg; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary Jane Anthony, of Holy Cross, Ralph and Nancy Gotto, of Burnsville, Minn., and Grace Gotto, of Bankston.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Lawrence and Cletus Hoefer; and two sisters, Marcella Mueller and Mildred Bell.
