Mrs. James (Ann "Annie") Strub, 66, of 2455 Woodlawn St., died at 8:40 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, at home, following a 14-year battle with cancer.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Resurrection Catholic Church. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where there will be a parish wake service at 3 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Strub worked for her mother at Hazel's Cafe and the Chat n' Chew Cafe. She enjoyed her work as a cook for the past 14 years at Ecumenical Towers.

She was born on April 5, 1934, in Dubuque, daughter of Florence Larson.

In 1957, she met James Strub while serving him coffee, and on Dec. 13, 1958, they were married at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Dubuque. They raised two sons and three daughters.

She graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1954. While busy with her family, she still found time to be a den mother to Pack 91. She was also a member of the Eagles and Knights of Columbus auxiliaries and the Mothers Club. She enjoyed league bowling, playing cards, camping and her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband James; three daughters, Patricia Strub, of Onalaska, Wis., Debra (Rick) Fishnick, of Dubuque, and Judith (Dennis) Herrig, of Tulsa, Okla.; two sons, Douglas (Pat) Strub, of Hallsville, Mo., and John (Lori) Strub, of Dubuque; eight grandchildren, Heather, Meggan, Desmond, Courtney, Andy, Jamie, Travis and Aubrey; a brother William (Betty) Young, of Bossier City, La.; a sister-in-law, Mabel Hartmann, of Dubuque; two nieces and a nephew; and a special friend, Doris Meyer.

An Annie Strub Memorial Fund has been established.

A special thank-you to the oncology department at Medical Associates Clinic, PC, to Dr. Lawrence Kukla, and also to Hospice of Dubuque for the care they gave to Annie.
