Roger A. Saeugling, 79, of 2241 St. Celia, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at home surrounded by his family.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Hoffmann Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, with the Rev. David Solberg officiating. Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by the Dubuque American Legion Post 6. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the funeral home.

He was born on Feb. 27, 1933, in Guttenberg, Iowa, son of Clarence and Alma (Ruer) Saeugling. He married Shirley Dralle in November 1969, at St. James Lutheran Church, Allison, Iowa.

Roger served in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves from 1952 to 1960, with the rank of staff sergeant.

He was employed by the city of Dubuque Engineering Department for 20 years before retiring in 1996.

Roger was a member of Guttenberg American Legion Post 373.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Saeugling, of Dubuque; two sons, Todd (Yvette) Saeugling, of Dubuque, and Greg (Karla) Dralle, of Apple Valley, Minn.; six grandchildren, Tyler, Mei, Ana Saeugling and Jacob, Michael and Kayla Dralle; and three brothers, Paul (Julie) Saeugling, of Dubuque, Keith (Sue) Saeugling, of Guttenberg, and Clark Saeugling, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Marianne.

The family requests no flowers. A Roger Saeugling Memorial has been established.
