Services for Donald G. Cavanaugh, 69, 2555 Maryville Drive, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Burial will be in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, south of Dubuque, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion, Post 6, of Dubuque. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 5 p.m.

Mr. Cavanaugh was a truck driver for Gateway Transport for 31 years.

He was born on Dec. 1, 1926, in Emmet, Neb., son of James I. and Gertrude (Dolan) Cavanaugh. He died at 9:05 p.m. Monday, July 15, 1996, at home.

He married Marian A. Brady on May 25, 1951, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, O'Neill, Neb.

He served with the Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Anthony's Parish, American Legion, Post 6, of Dubuque, Izaak Walton League, the Yuma (Ariz.) Gun Club and the Retired Truck Drivers. Don was an active volunteer at the Izaak Walton Club. He especially loved his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Marian A. Cavanaugh; two daughters, Diane A. (Mark) Treanor, of Dubuque, and Deborah J. (Mark) Meyer, of Fort Polk, La.; a son, Daniel F. (Dianne) Cavanaugh, of West Bend, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Megan, Sean and Shannon Cavanaugh, Emily, Jackie and Amanda Treanor and Amy and Michelle Meyer; three sisters, Ireneaia Lewis, of Encinitas, Calif., Vivian Fullerton, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Clare (Bill) Ramsey, of Houston, Texas; and four brothers, Bernard Cavanaugh, of Chambers, Neb., Joseph Cavanaugh, of Inman, Neb., Richard (Ruth) Cavanaugh, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Gerald "Shine" Cavanaugh, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary McBride; and three brothers, Robert, Edward and James Cavanaugh.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to children's charities.
