Albert W. "Rooster" Clark, 62, 301 Jones St., died at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 1996, at home.

Graveside services and burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednes-day at Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St.

Mr. Clark was formerly employed at Schueller/Tri-State Paving for 12 years, and later at Flynn Construction for 13 years. He was employed at Horsefield Construction as a foreman until his retirement.

He was born on March 31, 1934, in Iowa City, son of Azariah W. and Olia Mae (Howell) Clark. He married Barbara J. Romack on Feb. 5, 1951, in Dubuque.

He was a lifelong resident of Dubuque. He was a member and steward of Labor Local 659. Rooster was a well-known cement finisher for more than 30 years in Dubuque, and was a mentor to many who worked with him. He was a lover of nature and animals, and he took great pride in his garden and flowers. He also was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara J. Clark; four daughters, Edna M. (Barry) Riggs, Rita M. Clark, and Carol J. (and her fiance, Don Prine) Meyer, all of Dubuque, and Mary A. (Hal) Ryan, of Tacoma, Wash.; three sons, James K. (Arla) Clark, Tom W. (Connie) Clark, and George W. Clark, all of Dubuque; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Sam; three sisters, Rita (Henry) Lund, of East Machias, Maine, Mary Ann (Ernest) Huseman, of Dubuque, and Grace (Kenneth) Leppert, of Bellevue, Iowa; and three brothers, Richard (Marcella) Clark, of Galena, Ill., Louis (Mary) Clark, of Dubuque, and George (JoAnn) Clark, of Libby, Mont.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Delberta Mastin; and three brothers, John, Charles and Dennis Clark.

In lieu of flowers, an Albert W. "Rooster" Clark Memorial Fund has been established.
