FARLEY, Iowa - Gary C. Einwalter, 61, of 305 Second Ave. NW, Farley, died at 2:41 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque, following a sudden illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Petersburg, with the Rev. Dennis Cain officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Independence, where there will be a flag presentation by the Independence Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2440. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Reiff Funeral Home, Farley, where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.

Mr. Einwalter worked at John Deere Dubuque Works for 29 years, retiring on June 30, 1992.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Carl M. and Margaret (Sullivan) Einwalter. He married Sally Shue on Dec. 27, 1966, in Camden, N.J.

He was a 1962 graduate of the former St. Joseph's School, Farley.

He was a veteran, having served in the Navy.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish in Farley.

Gary loved to spend his time with his family and friends, working and playing outside. He loved to hunt and was an avid golfer.

He was a sincere friend who was always ready to help anyone. He especially enjoyed spending time with his close friend, Pat Kearney, at "the cabin." He was a beloved uncle, always ready with a smile and a hug.

Surviving are his wife, Sally Einwalter, of Farley; two children, Kristine (Stephen) Guttag, of Annapolis, Md., and Keith Einwalter, of Dubuque; three siblings, Judy Callahan, of Independence, Bob Einwalter, of Beaver Dam, Wis., and Bill (Mary Jo) Einwalter, of Farley; and nieces and nephews, Dan (Jen) Callahan, Trisha (Doug) Peyton, Terri Callahan, Jennifer (Matt) Barchardt, Christopher (Jennifer) Einwalter, Julia (Dave) Katzner, Lisa (friend, Bill Kramer) Einwalter, Nicholas Einwalter, Will Einwalter and Jessica Einwalter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Gary C. Einwalter Memorial Fund has been established.
