One of those cases of sudden death which shock all so terribly, occurred Tuesday night. About 10 o’clock Mrs. Burnes, wife of Thomas Burnes the stone mason, residing on Southern Avenue near Thomas Cavanaugh’s, complained that she felt a smothering sensation, and requested her husband to help her out onto the porch. He did so, and she presently asked to be conveyed back to her bed as she felt that she would die. She was assisted to her bed, laid down, breathed a few time quietly and expired. But twenty minutes lapsed from her first feeling unwell until she died. She has always been a healthy woman, she leaves five grown children and a husband to grieve for his loss.
