James A. Rooney Claimed
By DeathJames A. Rooney, a former member of the Dubuque police force, died at Finley Hospital this morning at 7 o’clock following a long illness.
Mr. Rooney was born in Newark, N. J. in 1858. He came to Dubuque when a boy and had lived here ever since. He was a member of the Dubuque police force for nine years \, but had been retired for some time.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. James Sullivan, of Jefferson, Texas, and two brothers, Thomas of La Crosse, Wisconsin, and John of this city, also a brother-in-law, John Morgan of Roanoke, Va.
The remains have been taken to Larkin Chapel, from where the funeral will be held Wednesday morning to the Cathedral at 9 o’clock. Interment will be made in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
NOTE: On his monument it says date of birth is 1848
