KILLED BY A FALL
Frank Brede Fall and
Receives Fatal InjuryThe Cause of the Accident Thought
to be Paralysis-Lingered Until
12 O’clock When He DiedAbout noon yesterday Frank Brede of 1010 Iowa Street, had been down the street, and on his return home was crossing Tenth Street to enter his side gate, when he stumbled and fell and struck his head against the stone curb. He rolled over and was soon was picked up in an unconscious condition and carried into the house where he received prompt attention. The physicians labored with him all afternoon and evening in hope of restoring him to consciousness, but at 2 o’clock last night, he died. It is the opinion of the doctor that Mr. Brede was seized with a stroke of paralysis which caused him to stagger and fall, and then the violent blow received on his forehead, which cut a deep gash, added to his injuries.
Deceased who was born in Westphalia, Germany, was 64 years of age, and he came to America in 1857, when he settled in this city and has resided ever since. He conducted a saloon on Seventh and Iowa Streets for many years, but he quit the business several years ago, and since then has been living a retired life. His health had been rather poor, although he had been able at all times to be out and about.
Deceased is survived by his wife and eight children, three sons and five daughters all residing in this city as follows; John F., Louis H. and Frank. The daughters are Flora, Emma, Anna, Bertha and Christina. He has one sister, Mrs. Hullerman, who lives in Indianapolis and a brother at Kansas City. The place and date of the funeral will be announced later.
