To celebrate Sharon's life, family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m., until the time of services at 12:00 noon, on Friday, at Behr Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Sharon was born on June 3, 1945, in Dubuque, daughter of Herbert and Elizabeth (Mergan) Fleckenstein.
Sharon was a loving wife and mother who was united in marriage to her soul-mate, James G. Miller, on August 20, 1975, in Asbury, IA. The couple was blessed with 25 years of marriage before he was called home ahead of her on January 3, 2000.
Sharon invested over 29 years of her working career at Mercy Hospital and joyfully welcomed her well earned retirement in 2009. Her faith life membership was devoted to St. Mary's Church and her free-time to the Moose Lodge #355.
But Sharon knew there was more to life than just work, church and home. She could regularly be seen dancing to her favorite 50's and 60's tunes, sitting on the shoreline with a freshly baited hook in hand, or even simply enjoying a pleasant ride on the river to capture the beauty of the fall leaves. She also found great joy in traveling and was always excited when the opportunity to spend the evening at the Circus 21 Dinner Theater arose. Sadly, today Sharon's 71 year earthly journey has come to its conclusion and her craft table sits quietly empty as our hearts fill with sorrow. We were not prepared to lose our dear mother and grandmother so soon, but we pray for peace and are thankful that she's surely dancing with James once again.
Those left to cherish Sharon's memory include
her daughter,
Connie Jo Miller, Dubuque, IA;2 step-daughters;
her 9 grandchildren,
Carissa Daniel, Ashley Jacoby, Nikeya Lawlor, Alyssa Lawlor, Reilly Gilbert, Brenna Harris, Michael (Victoria) Gallucci, Anthony Gallucci and Dominic Gallucci;and her 9 great-grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James.
A Sharon R. Miller memorial fund has been established, which will be distributed among her favorite charities.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the University of Iowa, and Hospice of Dubuque, for all of their wonderful care and compassion.
