MEMBER OF IOWA BAR FOR MANY YEARS
FUNERAL RITES MONDAY AFTERNOONNews of the death of George W. Kiesel, which occurred at his late home on Fremont avenue Saturday afternoon at 310 o'clock. While not unexpected on account of the enfeebled state of his health for months past, has brought grief to a multitude of friends.
As a man and as a citizen Mr. Kiesel was held in the highest esteem. In his profession as lawyer, in his dealings in business and as a friend and neighbor, he maintained such high standards of integrity and uncorruptible honor, as won for him, the confidence of all who knew him.
Of transparent honesty, and of genial temper, he was a well beloved citizen who will be sincerely mourned. Mr. Kiesel was a faithful member of St. Luke's Methodist Episcopal Church and was one of its board of trustees.
George W. Kiesel was born January 14, 1856, at St. Louis, Mo. His boyhood was spent on Guttenberg. He attended the Iowa State college of Ames, graduating in the class of 1874. His first practice of law was in Lansing. He was admitted to the bar in 1878, coming to Dubuque in the following year, where he associated himself with the firm of Henderson, Hurd, Daniels and Kiesel. Later the firm of Hurd, Lenehan, and Kiesel was established. Mr. Kiesel retired from the active practice of law in May, 1918. He was a director of the East Dubuque Savings Bank and of the Second National Bank for many years.Mr. Kiesel was united in marriage with Miss Henrietta Coates, January 31, 1901. Besides is widow, he is survived by his nephew, P. K. Karberg, and his niece, Mrs. Augusta Jenkins, of Chicago.
The funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 5:45 o'clock at his late residence, 215 Freemont avenue.
