Welling Rites
Hugo A. Welling, 73, of New Vienna died early Thursday morning, Aug. 22, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna. Burial was in the church cemetery with the following pallbearers: Ken Schroeder, Gene Loeffelholz, Gib Knipper, Gary Spoden, Dan Roling and Leonard Fangman. The Rosary was Thursday evening and the Parish Scripture Service Friday evening at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville.
Mr. Welling was born at Guttenberg May 21, 1901, the son of Henry and Anna Kann Welling. He was married to Mathilda Lake June 23, 1925 at Luxemburg. Mr. Welling was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Aloys of Cassville, Wis., and Walter of Luxemburg; two daughters, Mrs. Joe (Ilo) Malik of Bettendorf and Mrs. Merlin (Kathleen) Meyer of New Vienna; 18 grandchildren; one brother, Henry of Hutchinson and one sister, Mrs. Ben (Rose) Sudol of Dubuque. He was preceded in death by two sisters.
