Farley, Ia. – Mrs. Veronica E. Wood, 61, widow of Emmett E. Wood, died at Mercy Hospital in Dubuque Monday night after an illness of five weeks.

Friends may call at the Sanner-Reiff Funeral Home at Farley after 3 pm Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Church at 9:30 am Friday. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Wood was born at Farley, daughter of John and Ellen Tracey Murphy. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School here and trained for teaching at Coe College, Cedar Rapids. After finishing her education she taught in the Farley public schools and rural schools.

She married Mr. Wood at Farley in 1924. He died in 1959.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Altar and Rosary Societies, the Order of Martha’s, the Woman Catholic Order of Foresters, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Rural Mail Carries Auxiliary.

Surviving are two sons, John E. Wood, Chicago, Ill.; and Wm. P. of Creston, Ia.; two sisters, Sister M. Claude Agnes, of the Sisters of the Visitation, Dubuque; and Marguerite Murphy of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, George Murphy, St. Charles, Ill., and Harold Murphy, Ryan, Ia.; and seven grandchildren.

Members of the parish Altar and Rosary Society will meet at the funeral home at 8 pm Wednesday for the recitation of the rosary. The parish rosary will be recited at 8 pm Thursday.

American Legion Auxiliary will meet at the funeral home at 4 pm Wednesday. The American Legion Scherman & Peterson Post will meet at the funeral home at 8:30 pm Thursday.
