Telegraph Herald (Dubuque, IA) — Sunday, May 5, 1996

Nicholas P. Gansemer, 92, of Stonehill Care Center, formerly of 5019 Massey Station Road, died at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 1996, at Stonehill.

Services will be at noon Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery, both in Key West, Iowa. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 7 p.m.

Mr. Gansemer formerly farmed in the Massey Station area. He was later employed at John Deere Dubuque Works for more than 20 years until his retirement.

He was born on Oct. 25, 1903, in Center Township of Dubuque County, son of Peter and Elizabeth (Krug) Gansemer. He married Kathryn A. Birkel on Nov. 16, 1937, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Sherrill, Iowa; she passed away on April 25, 1991.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Key West, and St. Francis Court 774 of the Catholic Order of Foresters in Rickardsville, Iowa.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Betty) Thill, of Dubuque; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Theresa Kiebel, of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Monica Clemens, Anna Hamblin, Hannah Gansemer and Mary Gansemer.

Memorials may be given to Stonehill Care Center.
